ENGLAND soccer ace Steven Gerrard and girlfriend Alex Curran are expecting their first child.

Beautician Alex, 20, is believed to be around eight weeks pregnant.

A spokesman for the pair said last night they were “absolutely delighted”.

Liverpool midfielder Steven, 22, has been dating Alex for almost two years.

The couple live in a five-bedroom mansion in Blundell Sands, Merseyside, once owned by former team-mate Robbie Fowler.

Both of their families are said to be thrilled about the baby, due early next year.

Alex’s mum Kim has been telling colleagues at Beatty’s department store in Birkenhead that she cannot wait to be a grandmother.

Steven got together with Alex in 2001 after ditching ex-Brookie babe Jennifer Ellison, 20.

He ended their relationship over the phone while partying in Greece.

Alex, who at the time dated ex-jailbird Tony Richardson, 23, was close friends with Jennifer.
