The Emilio Pucci Resort 2017 presentation was revealed at the Milanese showroom. Designer Massimo Giorgetti debuted the collection in a series of styling efforts that captivated the attention of his audience. The collection is refreshingly modern and offered newness whilst remaining true to the identity of Emilio Pucci. Massimo Giorgetti explained his increased efforts in exploring and interpreting the legacy of the brand.

The Resort lineup featured refashioned and reworked Pucci prints, whilst introducing new ones including one inspired by the swimming pool at Miami’s The Raleigh hotel.The Pucci Resort ’17 lookbook was photographed in Florence, Italy. The imagery featured many athletic references, designs with flounce and movement, an overall possessed attitude of grace and a take on the updated 50’s Pucci fringed hat. The updated Pucci hat dominated the mood. Constructed with exaggerated fringe which completely covered model’s face, there was a severe and intriguing sense of mystery.

Palm prints appear liberally. Dresses are designed in Summery prints with sorbet colors. Bikini style crop tops dressed the models, whilst crochet knitted and knotted rope handbags decorated the styling of each Resort look. A tri-color crinkle striped jacket dressed a half turtleneck zip, peaking subtly underneath. The crinkle-striped jacket was boldly designed in colors of navy, white and aqua, with bold pops of orange.Crisp white shirts were made new with side ties that formed bows, whilst other designs such as an abstract striped jacket with tie dye brush strokes appeared entirely new rather than as a reworked classic. A dramatic pantsuit accompanied an A-line, high-waisted skirt with a brightly orange colored bra crop.

Floor dusting long sleeved dresses hid the potentially most repeated shoe of the collection: boldly structured and geometrically shaped footwear with clear panels exposing the foot, atop a cubed heel.A one-sleeved dress in a beautiful dusty, powder blue was styled alongside another look featuring a palm printed trench coat. A vertically striped skirt was presented with a color blocked scuba top. The striped panels appeared in solid colors, metallic, and palm prints. A dynamically fluid scuba dress with a continuous wave design sported a high neckline in true scuba form. A paneled block striped dress featured the familiar neckline. A mesmerizing sparkling slip dress in electric blue dressed a model over a second skin, long sleeved Pucci print. Violet, crinkled velvet pants with statement, paired back to an evidently subtler, blush top.

Satin pajama tops tucked into palm printed shorts, whilst complete Pucci printed pajama sets appeared later in the collection. Massimo Giorgetti plated with ruffles in the later looks of the collection whether as an off the shoulder top, or the hemline of a dress.The genius of Giorgetti and Emilio Pucci is revealed through this latest collection. Decades later and Pucci’s style influence is as strong and poignant as ever. New designers often forget that iconic fashion houses build a reputation for this very reason. It’ll be interesting to see what direction Giorgetti will steer in the brand’s upcoming collections. Will he remain in the Pucci archives?
